
LEMOYNE, PA — Johnson Duffie is proud to announce that Heidi F. Eakin has joined the firm as a Shareholder, bringing more than four decades of criminal law experience to the firm’s Criminal Defense practice.
Eakin has practiced criminal law since 1983. She spent 24 years with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, where in 2000 she became the first female First Assistant District Attorney in the office’s history. During her tenure as a prosecutor, she tried more than 300 cases, including 53 homicide prosecutions.
In 2007, Eakin joined the firm of Bill Costopoulos, resuming jury trial practice on behalf of criminal defendants. She is capital certified for death penalty cases and has tried 11 such cases over the course of her career. In addition to her criminal defense work, Eakin regularly practices before the Court of Judicial Discipline and the Judicial Conduct Board of Pennsylvania.
Eakin is a magna cum laude graduate of Shippensburg University, where she earned a B.S. in Communications with minor concentrations in Psychology and Government. She earned her J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law in 1985.
She is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Outside of the courtroom, Eakin is actively involved in dog rescue and enjoys fishing, hiking, and trips to Alaska.
